Things To Know About Caves in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania is packed with incredible caves and caverns, but these natural wonders are way more than just holes in the ground.
Over thousands of years, slow-dripping water has worked its magic, seeping into limestone and carving out jaw-dropping formations, twisting passageways, and massive underground chambers.
The result? A hidden world beneath our feet that you can exploreโlike stepping into natureโs own underground masterpiece.
- All caves stay at a consistent temperature year-round. Typically, between 50-54 degrees Fahrenheit, so be prepared with a light jacket even in the summer.
- No backpacks or large bags are permitted on any of the tours.
- Closed-toed shoes are required for entry; sandals and flip-flops are discouraged.
- Unfortunately, no tours are ADA-accessible, and strollers are not allowed due to the terrain
- Plan to arrive 10-15 minutes before your tour starts and remind the younger ones to use the restroom in advance because once you are on the tour, you are there until the end
- All the tours I will mention are great for families of all ages, but some might be difficult for those with mobility issues
