Pet-Friendly Lakes in PA with Cabin Rentals (Dogs Welcome)

If you’re trying to plan a lake trip in Pennsylvania and the dog is coming too, it can feel overwhelming to find a great option.

Do they only allow dogs in certain rooms, what are the restrictions? Is there enough space to run? Will you spend the whole trip apologizing to other guests?

I’ve done the research so you don’t have to.

These are the pet friendly lakes in PA with cabin rentals that genuinely welcome dogs… not just tolerate them.

From a Poconos lake resort with a dedicated pet beach to a lakefront cottage on Lake Erie steps from Presque Isle, here’s where to go with your furry family member.

Why Lake Raystown Resort is Great for Families with Dogs

Raystown Lake is the largest lake entirely within Pennsylvania, with over 100 miles of shoreline in the mountains of Huntingdon County.

Lake Raystown Resort sits on its shores of this gorgeous lake.

This isn’t a small lakeside motel with a “pets welcome” sign; it’s a full-service resort with cabin rentals, a waterpark, a marina, and enough activities that you’ll never have to worry about being bored.

Pet-Friendly Stays

The resort accommodates pets in select cabin rentals.

Here’s the specific info pet parents need… only Cabins 21-24 are designated dog-friendly. These are one-bedroom rustic log cabins that sleep up to 6, with a full kitchen, private bathroom, TV, and window A/C.

They cannot be booked online,  you have to call directly at 814-658-3500 and specifically request a dog-friendly cabin when reserving.

A few things worth knowing before you go: There is a $50 fee per stay and dogs must be under 50 lbs (max two dogs). You’ll need to provide breed information at booking. Current rabies vaccination records and a valid license are required at check-in.

WildRiver Waterpark

The on-site waterpark has a fun mix for different ages… an innertube ride (Cemetery Sluice), the Atomic Blaster slide, a family swimming pool, and a children’s splash pad for the littles.

One heads-up: dogs are not allowed at the waterpark, so if you’re bringing the pup you’ll want to make sure they are ok being crated in the cabin.

Marina and Boat Rentals

Kayaks, paddleboards, and pontoon boats are all available through the resort marina. Reservations can be made online through the marina reservations page, which is worth doing in advance during summer weekends.

Geocaching

This pet-friendly lake resort has 4 traditional caches and 2 multi-stage caches hidden on the grounds, with GPS coordinates listed on their website so you can go in prepared.

Marina Café

On-site dining with lakeside views. Convenient when you don’t want to pack up and drive somewhere for dinner after a full day on the water.

Worth Knowing Nearby

Lincoln Caverns and Whisper Rocks are about 30 minutes from the resort… one of the better cave tour experiences in PA and a solid half-day if you’re staying multiple nights.

Why Silver Birches Resort is Great for Families

Silver Birches Resort has been on the shores of Lake Wallenpaupack since the 1920s, and it’s one of the few pet-friendly Pocono lake resorts that has genuinely held onto its character through time.

The lakefront property is made up of 13 historic structures. A mix of inn rooms, cottages, suites, and resort houses… all with lake views.

And, with Hawley, PA less than 10 minutes from the resort, there’s always something to do.

Pet-Friendly Perks at Silver Birches Resort

Here’s the specific info you need about bringing your dog to Silver Birches… They have 6 pet-friendly rooms and welcomes one dog up to 50 lbs for a fee of $35 per stay.

They love dogs SO MUCH that they have something called Ruby’s Wagaway HosPETality Package, which includes a new chew toy at check-in, daily treats, food and water bowls, and waste bags.

It’s a small touch but the kind of thing that makes it feel like the dog was actually expected, not just tolerated.

Pet-Friendly Overnight Options

The cottages are the best pick for families with dogs… more space, more privacy, and they feel like their own little lakeside home rather than a hotel room.

On the Water Activities

Kayaks, paddleboards, canoes, and fishing rods are available… and included with your stay.

Seasonal Outdoor Pool

There’s an on-site pool with a poolside bar… a nice option for afternoons when you want something more contained than open water.

The Dock Restaurant & TJ’s Lakeside Bar

The Dock is where you go for a solid sit-down meal with lake views, seafood, pizza, and live music.

TJ’s is the more casual bar option. A fun added bonus is the evening complimentary champagne toast at sunset with fire pits lit around the property.

Exploring Nearby Hawley

Less than 10 minutes away and worth a few hours — walkable downtown, good coffee, antique stores, and Costa’s Family Fun Park about 4 miles out if the kids need a change of pace.

Why Keen Lake Camping & Cottage Resort is Great For Families

If you’re searching for Poconos lakefront rentals that are truly pet-friendly, Keen Lake Camping & Cottage Resort is the one that actually plans around your dog.

This family-run resort has been hosting families at the shores of the 90-acre spring-fed lake in Waymart since 1954.

Beyond the many amenities they offer for kids, families love that they have a dedicated pet beach just for dogs… they get it.

Dog-Friendly Lakefront Cottages

Keen Lake has named cottages rather than numbered cabins… kids love this.

The pet-friendly lakefront cottages are the Hermit Island Cottage, The Schoolhouse, The Primrose, and The Laurel… all lakefront, all sleeping up to 7.

If you need a lakeview option, The Pre-Civil War Barn is also pet-friendly and sleeps 6.

A Pet Beach Dog Families Love

Keen Lake Resort has a dedicated beach exclusively for dogs… your pet can actually swim in the lake, which is rare for a Poconos lakefront rental.

Pymatuning State Park Has Dog-Friendly Cabins on PA's Biggest Lake

Pet Friendly Cabin at Pymatuning State Park

Why Families With Dogs Love Pymntuning State Park

Pymatuning State Park is one of the only Pennsylvania State Parks that allow dogs in the overnight cabins AT ALL and it also happens to sit on the largest lake in the state.

You’ll have three marinas, four beaches, boat rentals, and fishing right outside your door.

For families who’ve given up on state park cabins because of pet restrictions, this one is worth bookmarking.

Cabins That Allow Dogs

There are 9 dog-friendly cabins split between two areas of the campground.

Jamestown Cabins (Cabins 1-4) are on the south shore near the main campground and open year-round.

Cabins 1-3 sleep families comfortably with a queen bed and two sets of bunk beds. Cabin 4 is the largest dog-friendly option… three bedrooms, and a good pick if you’re traveling with a bigger group.

All cabins include a furnished living area, full kitchen, bathroom with shower, and cable TV. Bring your own linens, towels, and cookware.

Linesville Cabins (Cabins 21-25) are on the quieter north shore, open mid-April through late October.

All five are ADA-accessible with two bedrooms, a queen plus a full bed and bunks. The Linesville side is a short walk to the marina and tends to feel more low-key than the south shore.

Pet Policy at Pymatuning State Park

Dogs welcome in all 9 cabins for $10/night per pet, maximum 2 dogs per cabin, any size.

Must be leashed at all times within the park. Dogs are not permitted in the swimming areas.

Book through ReserveAmerica… these fill fast in summer and reservations open up to 11 months out.

On the Water Activities

Three marinas (Jamestown, Linesville, and Espyville) are on the lake so you can rent kayaks, pontoons, and motorboats.

Boats with motors up to 10 horsepower allowed on the reservoir. Four managed beaches open Memorial Day through Labor Day.

Don’t Skip the Spillway

The Linesville Spillway is one of those genuinely weird stops worth building your trip around. The carp are so thick that ducks literally walk across their backs to reach the bread people toss in.

Kids lose their minds. It’s free, it’s strange, and it belongs on your list.
